Top 10 Items Borrowed in 2023
In 2023, Georgians used their local public libraries to connect to the internet via mobile Wi-Fi hotspots, borrow laptops for work and school, engage with interactive learning tablets, check out passes to explore exciting places, and discover great new books – or rediscover modern favorites that inspired successful television shows.
Libraries are helping individuals and families stay connected with technology, engaged with stories, and entertained with cultural experiences.
Library card holders also saved money this year by borrowing 11,312,011 items for free through PINES libraries. The items checked out this year also show how cardholders are using their libraries not only for books, but also movies, music, magazines, sewing kits, telescopes, and ukuleles.

- Mobile hotspots
Wi-Fi mobile hotspots help individuals work and study remotely. Public libraries across Georgia play an essential role in providing internet access, especially in rural and underserved areas that lack basic connectivity.

Every public library system in Georgia has Launchpad learning tablets to help encourage children to develop a love of reading. These interactive devices are pre-loaded with apps and games that support language and literacy development.
