October is Georgia Archives Month

Archives Month is an opportunity to show how important items are preserved, cataloged, cared for, and made accessible by archivists and librarians. Share the resources below to promote the value of archives and local history collections.

2024 Theme > Find Your (Archives) Match: Creating and Maintaining Community Connections

Archives collections often provide a deeper level of information on the histories of people and places, but collections are rarely complete. In order to fill in the gaps, archivists use the available knowledge to learn more about the story as well about those who are involved as a gateway to other leads. Building collaborative relationships is within the heart of connecting these stories, and helps us work towards a shared vision to bridge gaps in collections, in outreach, and in advocacy. Together, we strive to collect and provide access to ever more nuanced, underrepresented stories in our communities
