Public libraries to feel stronger budget pinchGov. Nathan Deal has formally submitted his recommendations for a $19.8 billion Fiscal Year 2014 budget. The governor’s proposals maintained the economic pinch, with an additional $965,673 cut for personnel and operating expenses. PINES libraries raise overdue fines for electronic and special itemsOverdue fines for items such as audiobooks, e-books, CDs, DVDs and event passes increased at PINES libraries around the state on Jan. 1. Rates vary by item, with the majority of nonequipment fees increasing to either 20 cents or 50 cents per day.
