About E-rate
E-rate, or the Schools and Libraries Universal Service Support Mechanism, is a federal initiative that provides schools and libraries with discounts on telecommunications and Internet related technologies. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) appointed the Schoolsand Libraries Division (SLD) of the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) to administer the program. The funds are collected as part of the Universal Service contributions made by the appropriate telecommunications companies.
