GPLS Training Events in April 2013: Tech Boot Camp & Purchasing/Payroll Classes
2013 GPLS Technology Boot Camp
From Emily Almond, Director of Information Technology at GPLS:
GPLS is hosting its 3rd Technology Boot Camp - April 23rd-25th, 2013. It is an initiative of the Georgia Public Library Service to bring together IT professionals from libraries statewide to share experiences and ideas and to explore opportunities made possible by emerging technologies.
At each boot camp, we explore the technology trends confronting libraries and we conduct a review of tech essentials for all library staff who work with the public. This three-day event blends dynamic presentations from thought leaders in public and private industry with hands-on, experiential learning activities.
Attendees explore a wide range of topics, such as cloud computing, LTE, app and game development, video for learning, PC and Mac tips and tricks and troubleshooting connectivity. There is also a demo lab/tech showcase of the latest in smartphones, mobile devices and downloadable resources.

Payroll and Purchasing Training
From Christopher Evans, Business Manager II at GPLS:
We are excited to once again team up with the folks at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government (cviog.uga.edu) to offer a day of payroll instruction and a day of purchasing instruction.
Not only will these classes provide critical skill learning they will also count toward the CVIOG/GPLS Library Financial Management Certification Program. We are excited about this continued partnership and the opportunity to offer this excellent training to a large group of individuals at a fraction of the cost.
