Anniversary celebration for Senoia Branch Library (Coweta County)

The Senoia Branch of the Coweta County Public Library System celebrates its one-year anniversary May 18 with storytelling, "The Wizard of Oz," a workshop for kids & salsa dancing.1:30 p.m. on May 18 with a performance by renowned storyteller Tracy Walker in the Branch Meeting Room

2:15 p.m., the Peachtree City Home Depot store team will bring the Home Depot Kid's Workshop

3:30 p.m., the library will be host for A Company of Friends Theatrical Productions, which will present "The Wizard of Oz"

Finale: Gotta Dance Now of Peachtree City will offer a free salsa dance class for everyone on the library's patio.

McDonough Public Library Annual Celtic Festival

For the fifth year in a row, McDonough residents will be able to get a glimpse into Celtic heritage and culture at the festival entitled Embracing the Stones.

The festival, slated for Sunday, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the McDonough Public Library, is free and open to the public.

Celebrate the Book with Two Days of Writers, Poets & Pavilions

Come to the 12th annual Library of Congress National Book Festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are honorary chairs for the event. The festival is free and open to the public. Festival poster by Rafael López.

This year's festival will feature authors, poets and illustrators in several pavilions, including two Sunday-only pavilions: Science Fiction, Fantasy & Graphic Novels and Special Programs. Festival-goers can meet and hear firsthand from their favorite poets and authors, get books signed, hear special entertainment, have photos taken with storybook characters and participate in a variety of activities.

Book Fest

The 2012 Savannah Children's Book Festival is set for Saturday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Forsyth Park in Savannah. The festival is presented by Live Oak Public Libraries and the City of Savannah. The eighth annual festival celebrates the joy of reading, the power of the written word and the magic of storytelling with children's book authors and illustrators from around the country.
